In an announcement that has thrilled fans around the world, the 35-year-old international superstar Taylor Swift confirmed Friday that she now owns her entire musical and visual catalog.
In an emotional message posted on her website, Swift expressed her joy and gratitude for having acquired the rights to "all the music I've ever made," including music videos, concert films, album art, photographs and unreleased songs.
“All my music videos. All the concert films. The album art and photography. The unreleased songs. The memories. The magic. The madness. Every single era. My entire life’s work," she wrote, celebrating this achievement as the culmination of a dream she has pursued for years.
The catalog
Swift's initial catalog was acquired by the singer from Shamrock Capital, although the amount of the transaction was not disclosed. Previously, these rights had been held by music manager Scooter Braun, who bought them from Big Machine, Swift's former record label.
This chapter marked a turning point in the career of the artist, who, in an effort to regain control of her work, began re-recording and releasing versions of her previous albums under the name "Taylor's Version."
To date, four of these re-recorded albums have been released, each accompanied by massive fan support.
“To say this is my greatest dream come true is actually being pretty reserved about it. To my fans, you know how important this has been to me — so much so that I meticulously re-recorded and released 4 of my albums, calling them Taylor’s Version,” Swift explained.
The singer stressed that the backing of her fans, reflected in the success of these albums and The Eras Tour world tour, was instrumental in making this repurchase possible. “I can’t thank you enough for helping to reunite me with this art that I have dedicated my life to, but have never owned until now,” she added.
The message concluded with a special thanks to her fans for their "goodwill, teamwork and encouragement.” “The best things that have ever been mine…finally actually are,” she wrote, sealing a historic moment in her career.
